DOES SIN MATTER ANYMORE?

Not only is it a diabolical deception to exchange the God of Scripture for the gods of this world, but an even greater deception has entered the hearts of believers. Many have begun asking a dangerous question:

“Do my sins even matter?”

We live in a generation that celebrates what God condemns, blesses what God forbids, and mocks the concept of holiness.

God is loving, but He is also concerned with how we live. Who convinced us that repentance is optional? Since when did conviction become offensive? When did holiness become outdated?

God still reveals Himself as Jehovah Makkadesh, “The LORD who sanctifies you” (Exodus 31:13). The God of Scripture has never changed, and He still calls His people to be separate.

Sanctification means to be set apart. It means God refuses to leave His people looking like the world, promoting secular ideas, thinking like unrepentant sinners, and loving the same things the devil loves. Salvation may happen in a moment, but sanctification is the work of a lifetime.

You want Jehovah Jireh to provide, Jehovah Rapha to heal, and Jehovah Shalom to give you peace. Yet many hide from Jehovah Makkadesh because holiness costs something. It requires repentance, surrender, obedience, and the death of self.

If your prayers never challenge you, convict you, or call you higher, you may be seeking God’s hand while avoiding His heart. You may even be pursuing a god of your own making rather than the God who sanctifies.

El Qanna, the God whose name is Jealous, has always had a remnant. Because He refuses to share the hearts of His people with idols, He has always preserved those who belong exclusively to Him. In Noah’s day it was a family. In Elijah’s day it was seven thousand who had not bowed to Baal. In Jesus’ day it was a host of disciples who forsook all to follow Him. Today it remains those who refuse to bow to the gods of the age.

El Qanna still has a remnant seeking Jehovah Makkadesh, yet many have become experts at searching for loopholes that allow them to shield their sin while falsely claiming His salvation.

Yes, your sins still matter.

Not because God has stopped loving you, but because He loves you too much to leave you unchanged, enslaved, and conformed to this world. The God who saves is also the God who sanctifies, and the remnant still hears His call:

“Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)
