Day 105 Devotional
EXPOSING YOUR SECRETS
Not everything hidden is evil. But everything hidden carries weight. Some hidden things are holy—others are heavy.
And after living on both sides of secrecy, I have learned firsthand that there is a difference between carrying what is sacred and carrying what is dark.
I have experienced the beauty of God trusting me with things that were never meant for public exposure. Revelations. Discernment. Warnings. Burdens in prayer. Sacred moments. Private instructions. The Bible makes it clear that God often reveals hidden things to His servants.
“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7)
There are divine secrets. Kingdom mysteries. Hidden wisdom.
God even allowed His servants at times to hear the plans of enemies hidden in secret places. Elisha knew the movements of the Syrian army before they happened because God exposed hidden conversations occurring behind closed doors (2 Kings 6:8–12). Gideon overheard the secret fears and conversations inside the enemy’s camp before battle, and what he heard strengthened his faith (Judges 7:9–15).
So let us settle this biblically: not everything secret is sinful. But God does expose backroom deals, the enemy’s strategies, and pillow talk that is not aligned with His will.
Some hidden things are revelations from Heaven. Some things are concealed because they are sacred. Some things require maturity, timing, stewardship, and discernment.
Jesus Himself operated this way. “To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God…” (Mark 4:11)
The Kingdom contains mysteries ordinary crowds cannot carry casually. God does not expose everything publicly because all revelation is not for public consumption.
Some things lose purity when exposed prematurely.
Joseph shared certain dreams far too early and suffered greatly because of it. Samson exposed what should have remained guarded and lost his strength. Even Mary “kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart” concerning Jesus (Luke 2:19).
Wisdom knows what to guard. Discernment knows what to expose. Maturity knows the difference. But I have also experienced another side of secrecy. The exhausting side.
THE DARK SIDE
Not merely secret sin, but hidden darkness people expect others to carry with them.
Secret manipulation. Secret agendas. Secret bitterness. Secret compromise. Secret dysfunction. Secret grief. Secret confusion. Secret emotional warfare.
And I need to say this plainly: I am no longer willing to become a storage unit or dump site for darkness that refuses to come into God’s light.
I am not a spiritual dumpster. I am not an emotional landfill. And I am not called to preserve what God is trying to expose.
For years, I believed loving people meant carrying things that slowly drained my spirit. I twisted discernment with assignment. I confused compassion with consent.
I thought being loyal and trustworthy meant carrying every burden people handed me without discernment, even when those burdens were rooted in secrecy, dysfunction, or darkness rather than genuine healing and accountability. I’ve learned in some of the worst, most painful ways.
But some people do not share secrets because they want healing. They share them because they want hiding places. And there is a huge difference.
The Bible says: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13)
DARKNESS SURVIVES THROUGH CONCEALMENT
Not just perverted behavior, but deception, manipulation, control, division, hidden motives, unrepentant cycles, and corruption in the heart.
The enemy has always operated through hiddenness. In Eden, Adam and Eve hid themselves after sin entered humanity (Genesis 3:8). Why? Because darkness seeks shadows. Dysfunction survives best where truth is absent.
This is why secrecy becomes dangerous when its purpose is preservation instead of transformation.
There are burdens God will allow you to carry in intercession. And there are burdens people place on you that slowly poison your peace, distort your discernment, and exhaust your spirit. Those are not the same thing.
Peace itself protects those who walk in obedience to God. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
I do not have to protect peace through unhealthy silence, false loyalty, or spiritual suffocation. God’s peace guards me. What I must protect is discernment, boundaries, wisdom, and obedience.
Because some secrets are sacred. And others are spiritually suffocating. Jesus said, “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.” (Luke 12:2)
Eventually, hidden things surface. Not because God enjoys exposing people, but because truth is part of His nature. God does not partner with darkness simply because it is emotionally complicated.
This devotional is personal because I have learned how exhausting it becomes to carry hidden things God never assigned to me. I know what it feels like to protect sacred revelation from God. But I also know the weariness of carrying unhealthy secrecy for people unwilling to confront truth themselves.
And I refuse to continue misaligning the two. If God shares something sacred with me, I will honor it. If someone entrusts me with a holy burden, I will protect it prayerfully. But I will no longer carry darkness disguised as loyalty.
Some things need intercession. Some things need exposure. Some things need repentance. Some things need boundaries.
Discernment is knowing the difference in all these things.
SECRETS SHAPE DIRECTION
Sacred secrets deepen intimacy with God. Corrupted secrets deepen bondage. One produces wisdom. The other produces warfare.
And some people are weary because you have spent years carrying hidden darkness God never asked you to protect.

Reflect
Days 1–2
- What line from this lesson is God pressing on your heart?
- Where might pride, fear, or distraction be resisting obedience?
Days 3–4
- Which scripture references will you re-read slowly in context this week?
- Who needs an encouraging word rooted in what you learned?
Days 5–7
- What is one concrete step of obedience you will take?
- How will you remember this lesson after the week ends?
Respond
LINGER WITH JESUS
Lord, thank You for this week’s word. Shape my heart by Scripture, not by noise or status. Where I have chased recognition, return me to simple obedience. Let the truth I have read bear fruit in love and humility. Amen.
Walk it out
