YOU DO NOT SERVE ELOHIM

This devotion is about one of the scariest realizations I’ve experienced.

Many people who say “God” are not talking about the God of the Bible.

They use His name, quote verses, attend churches, and sing songs, yet they do not know Elohim.

Jesus warned us plainly:

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 7:21).

Apparently, people can say “Lord” and still be lost. Because either Jehovah is Lord of all or He is not Lord at all.

BAAL NEVER DISAPPEARED

I used to wonder how Israel could worship Baal.

How could they abandon the God who parted the Red Sea, and fed them with manna?

How could they exchange Elohim for an idol?

Now I understand. Ancient Baal promised prosperity, success, convenience, comfort, and pleasure.

YOUR SPIRITUALITY MAY BE IDOLATRY

People consult psychics and quote Scripture. They read horoscopes and attend church. They speak to the dead and pray to God.

They trust crystals, tarot cards, mediums, manifestations, energies, and ancestors while falsely claiming to follow Jesus.

Others worship politics. Some worship money, celebrities, personal happiness, sexual identity, and their own opinions.

They have simply placed God’s title on top of their idols.

They may sound alike when spoken, but heaven recognizes the difference between god and God.

Israel called their golden calf Jehovah. God still called it idolatry. You cannot rename an idol and make it holy.

SATAN GOES TO CHURCH TOO

One of the most disturbing truths in Scripture is that Satan is deeply religious.

He quoted Scripture to Jesus.

He appeared among the sons of God.

He entered the synagogue.

He knows theology.

He knows doctrine.

He knows the Bible better than many Christians.

The devil has never been threatened by religious people.

JESUS SPENT EIGHTEEN YEARS DOING WHAT MOST CHRISTIANS REFUSE TO DO

The only verse describing Jesus from age twelve until age thirty says:

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52).

No ministry.

No crowds.

No platform.

No influence.

No brand.

No followers.

No microphone.

For eighteen years Jesus pursued growth. Wisdom.

Character. Favor with God.

And Favor with man. Yet modern believers want authority without submission.

Jesus spent eighteen years becoming before He spent three years preaching.

KNOWING HIS NAME IS NOT KNOWING HIM

God revealed His names so that His people could know His character.

Jehovah Jireh.

Jehovah Rapha.

El Shaddai.

El Roi.

Jehovah Shalom.

But many people use God’s names while ignoring God’s commands.

David wrote: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11).

The Word reveals who God is.

His statutes reveal what He loves.

His precepts reveal how He thinks.

His commandments reveal His holiness.

And if you love Him, you will obey Him.

THE FINAL QUESTION

The world talks about “god.”

But Scripture reveals Elohim.

The world wants spirituality.

Elohim demands surrender.

The world wants acceptance; Elohim requires repentance.

One day millions will say, “Lord, Lord.”

It will not ask whether you called Him God. The question will be: Did you know Elohim?

And perhaps even more terrifying: Did Elohim know you?
