"For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough." (2 Corinthians 11:4)
Here's what Paul is saying, piece by piece concerning the situation he is addressing: False teachers had entered Corinth after Paul left. They didn't deny Jesus. They redefined Him. Same name. Different nature.
They spoke some Christian language while altering Christian substance. They didn't remove Jesus from the message, they reshaped Him to be more acceptable, more impressive, more manageable. And the church tolerated it.
Without Studying the Bible You Can Easily Find Yourself Serving Another Jesus
Not a foreign god. Not unbelief. A Jesus without a cross, whose life is absent of suffering. A Jesus who inspires but does not command. A Jesus who blesses but does not confront. A Jesus who adds to your life, not a Lord who demands you to die daily.
Not the Spirit who convicts of sin and produces holiness. But a spirit that performs and excites without transforming. Not good news that rescues sinners. But a motivational message instead of repentance. A gospel that improves the old self instead of crucifying it.
YOU PUT UP WITH IT
Paul's grief is not just the presence of false teachers. It's the ease with which the church accepted them. Another Jesus costs less. Another spirit feels safer. Another gospel demands nothing. Comfort replaced conviction. Preference replaced truth.
Here's What Christians say VS. What the Bible Reveals:
"Everyone is God's child." But Jesus said, "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires." (John 8:44)
"Jesus never judged anyone." But Jesus said, "For judgment I came into this world." (John 9:39)
"God just wants you to be happy." But Jesus said,"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross."(Matthew 16:24)
"Love means total acceptance." But Jesus said,"If you love me, you will keep my commandments."(John 14:15)
"Come as you are—no change required." But Jesus said, "Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." (Luke 13:33)
"Jesus never offended anyone." But Jesus said, "Do you take offense at this?" (John 6:61)
"We're all basically good." But Jesus said, "No one is good except God alone." (Mark 10:18)
"Truth is relative—Jesus just taught love." But Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
"Faith should make life easier." But Jesus said, "In the world you will have tribulation." (John 16:33)
"Jesus came to affirm people." But Jesus said, "Woe to you… you are like whitewashed tombs." (Matthew 23:27)
YOUR DIALOGUE DETERMINES YOUR DESTINY
Another Jesus doesn't announce himself as counterfeit. He arrives clothed in familiar phrases. Language softens. Edges disappear. Repentance becomes optional.
Biblical language guards the truth, and the language of "the other Jesus" promotes self. It's up to you to choose one over the other:
Altars over Stages Anointing over Popularity Blood over Commitment Calling over Career Coast over Territory Communion over Experience Covenant over Contract Deliverance over Acceptance Discernment over Boundaries Discipleship over Mentorship Elders over Executive Pastors Evangelism over Marketing Faith over Attendance Faithfulness over Growth Fellowship over Networking Giving over Sowing Seed God's Plan over Assignments Gospel over Strategy Holiness over Imagination Holy Ghost over Money Intimacy over Impact Justification over Self-Worth Kingdom over Denomination Kneeling over Creativity Love over Greenrooms Mercy over Measurement New Birth over Numbers Obedience over Success Organism over Organization People over Prosperity Perseverance over Momentum Prayer over Affirmations Quietness over Quotation Reconciliation over Division Redemption over Volunteering Regeneration over Rescue Relationship over Religion Repentance over Rebranding Sanctification over Growth Sealed over Branded Sending over Scaling Servitude over VIP Servanthood over Leadership Secrecy over Publicity Shepherds over Managers Suffering over Visibility Surrender over Self-love Transformation over Progress Truth over Narrative Union over Usefulness Vocation over Visibility Witness over Influence Worship over Events Xenia over Exclusivity Yielding over Speaking Zeal over Determination
Words aren't just talk, they reveal allegiance and alignment. God moves through His Word, not through hype, branding, or strategy. Confession matters because language forms culture. Change the language, and you change the Christ people encounter. That's why it matters which Jesus is preached, trusted, and followed.
Your response matters. It's not enough to profess Jesus — you must choose which Jesus you follow. The Jesus preached in pulpits is not always the Jesus revealed in the Bible. Will you serve the God of the Bible, or settle for a New Age Jesus crafted for comfort rather than challenge?
moment: be still, and invite the Lord to apply what you have read.

Reflect
Days 1–2
- What line from this lesson is God pressing on your heart?
- Where might pride, fear, or distraction be resisting obedience?
Days 3–4
- Which scripture references will you re-read slowly in context this week?
- Who needs an encouraging word rooted in what you learned?
Days 5–7
- What is one concrete step of obedience you will take?
- How will you remember this lesson after the week ends?
Respond
LINGER WITH JESUS
Lord, thank You for this week’s word. Shape my heart by Scripture, not by noise or status. Where I have chased recognition, return me to simple obedience. Let the truth I have read bear fruit in love and humility. Amen.
