Week 20: There’s Another Way

“A star shall come out of Jacob.”

The Magi were not godly men.

Read

The Magi were not godly men. They were pagan astrologers from Babylon, shaped by occult wisdom, star charts, dream omens, and royal courts. Not covenant people. Not students of the Torah. They read the skies, and possessed a poor understanding of the Scriptures. The star they followed was mercy, not approval of their methods. So, don't MISUSE the Bible to validate new-aged spirituality that's not so new. Avoid zodiac signs, horoscopes, birth charts, planetary positions, star charts, palmistry, tarot and oracle cards, dream interpretation, crystals, incense, and sage. THERE'S ANOTHER WAY.

Remember, God planted TRUTH in their world through the Hebrew prophet Daniel, who, while in exile, became chief over Babylon's wicked but wise men. Daniel spoke of the Son of Man receiving everlasting dominion.

Even a compromised prophet named Balaam said, "A star shall come out of Jacob." To Abraham He promised that ALL families of the earth would be blessed. Through Isaiah He declared a Servant who would be a light for the Gentiles. Through Jeremiah He promised a new covenant written on hearts. Trust that God has a plan to bring you to an expected end, but it requires you to surrender to His way.

When the star rose, these pagan men moved. They entered Jerusalem asking, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?" The ungodly wise men traveled. The self-righteous religious stayed still. Too often, we "Christians" sit in our pews, judging others, hearing the Word but refusing to act, coming in blind and leaving the same.

But when the wicked Magi found the Christ, they fell down and worshiped Him. Astrologers on their faces. Pagans bowing before a Jewish King. Then comes the line that changes everything. They departed by ANOTHER WAY.

If I were a preacher this would be my transformation sermon. They did not return THE WAY they came. They did not walk back on the same road.

Jesus would later say, "I am the WAY… No one comes to the Father except through Me." When you really meet the WAY, your life will change.

God has always pursued those who are far off. He takes in the underdogs that most people count out, even Christians. Rahab. Ruth. Nineveh. Babylon. Women. Children. Widows. If pagan astrologers left everything, and traveled the distance to seek and bow before Christ, what is stopping you?

THERE'S ANOTHER WAY. And when you truly bow to Him, you will not leave His presence the same way you came.

Reflect

Days 1–2
  • What line from this lesson is God pressing on your heart?
  • Where might pride, fear, or distraction be resisting obedience?
Days 3–4
  • Which scripture references will you re-read slowly in context this week?
  • Who needs an encouraging word rooted in what you learned?
Days 5–7
  • What is one concrete step of obedience you will take?
  • How will you remember this lesson after the week ends?

Respond

PRAY IN THE QUIET

Lord, thank You for this week’s word. Shape my heart by Scripture, not by noise or status. Where I have chased recognition, return me to simple obedience. Let the truth I have read bear fruit in love and humility. Amen.

Walk it out

  • Re-read one key passage from this lesson in the KJV, in full context.
  • Share one sentence of encouragement with another believer.
  • Take one quiet act of obedience you have been postponing.
  • Pray briefly each morning: “Lord, let Your word rule my choices today.”

In quietness and confidence is your strength.
