God has the power to create life without human seed. Believing in the virgin birth is NOT OPTIONAL, it’s a necessity. Don’t ever let people deceive you into thinking that Jesus was just a prophet. That’s worse than disbelief, it’s denial of who God is.
Before God ever formed man from dust or woman from a rib, He revealed something about Himself: life does not require sex to begin.
Whether you believe it or not God does not NEED the human race, but He loves us! Creation is proof enough that God alone is the source of life. When we defend Mary’s virginity, we are not defending biology against reason, we are defending our belief in God’s sovereignty.
I Believe in the Virgin Birth Because I Believe in God
Naysayers are quick to say it’s not possible, but confess that they believe in a higher power. How insignificant is your higher power if you dictate what it can and cannot do? My God can do anything but fail.
Therefore, I am confident that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of Mary without sexual intercourse. This is historical, theological, and covenant necessity.
God Creates Life Without Human Seed
There was a pattern long before Bethlehem: In Genesis 1:1–3, God creates by speaking. Life begins by His word, not by reproduction. In Genesis 2:7, Adam is formed directly from dust and given life by God’s breath, not born of parents. In Genesis 2:22, Eve is formed from Adam’s side, not through a womb.
God alone is the Creator, we are just duplicators. Even in nature, God allows certain creatures to reproduce without mating.
Parthenogenesis is a form of reproduction in which an embryo develops from an unfertilized egg. So the question is not can God bring forth life without a man. The question is WHY must He do so with Christ.
Why a Virgin Was Required
There’s an idea in theology called “Protoevangelium” which is the first hint of the gospel. It’s a promise of the future offspring of the woman, which is Jesus.
The Bible says, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed…” (Genesis 3:15) Notice carefully: Scripture never speaks of the woman’s seed ANY WHERE ELSE. Seed is attributed to men, yet here it belongs to the woman alone.
This is not incidental. It is prophetic precision. The Messiah would come without Adam’s seed, bypassing the fallen lineage.
Also, over 700 years before Christ was born, the prophet Isaiah wrote “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son…”(Isaiah 7:14). A natural birth would not qualify as a sign. A miraculous one would.
Jesus inherits legal kingship through Joseph. He inherits biological Davidic blood through Mary (Luke 3). The virgin birth resolves what no human genealogy could and fulfills all the Scripture written of Him. “Through one man sin entered the world…” (Romans 5:12). “The first man was from the earth… the second man is from heaven.” (1 Corinthians 15:47) Jesus could not be merely another son of Adam. He had to be a new beginning, not a repaired version of the old.
Fully Human, Fully God
So, Mary’s virginity preserves both truths: True humanity in that Jesus was born of woman. And true divinity because he was conceived by God. Remove the virgin birth and you do not get a simpler gospel, you get another Jesus. The II Corinthians 11:4 Jesus that I often warn believers about.
What Does This Tell Us About Jesus?
It tells us that Jesus was not MADE holy, He was BORN holy.
Salvation does not rise from human effort. Redemption does not come from human SEED.
Mary DID NOT produce a god. God used her purity to bring forth redemption.
Jesus is NOT the improvement of humanity; He is the invasion of divinity. He is NOT a man climbing up to God; He is God stepping down to man. He is the HOLY ONE untouched by Adam’s original sin, the promised SEED of the woman, the Word made flesh, the second Adam who begins a new creation.
Jesus is God with us: unstained, undefeated, and unstoppable, the only One born holy enough to make sinners holy. And we defend Mary’s virginity not to exalt Mary, but to exalt the miracle of Christ. IF He was NOT conceived by the Spirit, then He is ONLY Adam’s descendant son, but since He was, then He is Heaven’s Holy One breaking into earth to save.
Defend It, Because Without It, Your Faith Is In Self, Not Sovereignty
Because of Mary’s virgin birth, I am a bond-servant to a God who creates the most amazing things out of nothing. He speaks life where there was no seed, He brings salvation where there was no strength. He is not dependent on human ability. He is not limited by natural law. He is the HOLY SEED, the promised One, and He is the only SEED we will ever need.

Go Deeper in Scripture
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The Bible says, "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed…" (Genesis 3:15) Notice carefully: Scripture never speaks of the woman's seed ANY WHERE ELSE.
Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.7.14 shall call: or, thou, O virgin, shalt call
Also, over 700 years before Christ was born, the prophet Isaiah wrote "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son…"(Isaiah 7:14).
Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
"Through one man sin entered the world…" (Romans 5:12).
1 Corinthians 15:47
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
"The first man was from the earth… the second man is from heaven." (1 Corinthians 15:47) Jesus could not be merely another son of Adam.
Reflect
Days 1–2
- What line from this lesson is God pressing on your heart?
- Where might pride, fear, or distraction be resisting obedience?
Days 3–4
- Which scripture references will you re-read slowly in context this week?
- Who needs an encouraging word rooted in what you learned?
Days 5–7
- What is one concrete step of obedience you will take?
- How will you remember this lesson after the week ends?
Respond
ABIDE IN HIM
Lord, thank You for this week’s word. Shape my heart by Scripture, not by noise or status. Where I have chased recognition, return me to simple obedience. Let the truth I have read bear fruit in love and humility. Amen.
